Football is an excellent way to get your kids active. Here is everything we have on offer in our football classes for kids.

Kids aged 5 to 18 need to do two types of physical activity each week. They need to do:
- Aerobic exercise
- Exercise to strengthen their muscles and bones.
They should be aiming for at least 60 minutes of moderate or vigorous intensity physical activity a day across the week. These activities should vary in order to develop their movement skills, muscles and bones.
One activity that is both a moderate activity and strengthens muscles and bones is football. Our football classes will help your child to be fit and healthy and lead them to a healthy and fulfilling life as they get older.
Within this article, we will let you know everything that our football classes for kids have to offer.
What Is On Offer For Each Age Group?
Our football classes are split into age groups. Within this section, we will take a look at what class has on offer.
BSS Minis – Ages 5-8 Years Old
In our football classes for the youngest age group, we take what comes natural to your child – their vivid imagination and neverending reserves of energy – and we use it to open their mind to what is possible in football, with or without the ball.
Each class is 60-90 minutes long and they are broken up into teaching technical skills and going through FDS game situations. For around 60% of the session, we focus on individual technical work with the ball. And the remaining 40% is reserved for FDS game situations. Your child will be given a soft introduction to the ICFDS Skills Badge Scheme and they will be taught to understand and appreciate the importance of respect and friendship.
The overall aim of our BSS Minis classes is to give your child a thorough introduction to the BSS methodology, creating a solid core series of skills so they are able to successfully move into the next phase of learning.
BSS – Ages 8-11 Years Old
When your child enters this age group, they will begin to compete more regularly. Because of this, our 8-11 year old classes focus on players practising individual, paired and group work, with and without pressure, so they can move closer to being match ready.
Each class is 60-90 minutes long, with the ICFDS Skills Badge Scheme beginning to take more prominence. All movements are slowly taught so they can be reinforced and mastered. But, this does not mean that these classes are extremely rigid. We know the importance of experimentation so we want your child’s mind to flourish as they learn.
BSS – Age 11+
As your child enters our classes for the oldest age group, their technical foundation has been laid. In these classes, we focus on addressing players’ tactical, physical and mental development.
Your child will not be limited to playing one position. They will be encouraged to experience playing in different positions so they can gain an appreciation and understanding of what is happening in all areas of the field.
In this age group, we also introduce team play techniques, playing various combinations from 1 vs 1 to 11 vs 11 using FDS footballs as well as introducing more conventional Size 4 and 5 balls.
As well as further developing their technical side, we will help to further their physical development by helping them to strengthen their general fitness and their diet. We will also focus more on competition, using elements of both Futebol de Salão and conventional gameplay in practice.
All of our 11+ football classes are 60-90 minutes long.
Our Football Classes For Kids Are Different
At BSS, we play in a faster, tighter way like Futebol de Salão.
Futebol de Salão is played on a pitch the size of a basketball court with a smaller (size 2), heavier (465g) ball that has virtually no bounce (10%).
As explained by Emilio Miranda from the University of São Paulo this version of the game creates up to 600% more touches and serves as Brazil’s “laboratory of improvisation”.
This result is a game that is faster, more tightly compressed and with higher pressure. This allows us to trial the core moves and skills needed for a game environment within 5 a side football.
Head Off To A Premier League Career
We have had many of our past BSS players go on to great things. Micah Richards, former Aston Villa and England international footballer, is one of the graduates of BSS. He had this to say about he time with BSS:
We will help your child to go on to great things in football, whether it is like Micah and becoming a Premier League star or like our other graduates, John Farnworth and Indi Cowie, who are Guiness World Record holders.
Our football classes have a great deal on offer and we hope to see your child at a class soon.
