Which Football Class Is My 8 Year Old In?

At 8 years olds, your child will be reaching the end of being in our BSS Minis class. Within these 60-90 minute long classes, there will have been a lot of focus on individual technical work and opening their minds to what is possible with a football. This will have helped them to lay down a solid foundation of core skills.

When their coach feels your kid is ready, they will move up to our 8-11 year old classes. These classes are 60-120 minutes long and they still will work on individual technical work, they will also work in pairs and groups. The ICFDS Skills Badge Scheme, which they were introduced to in the BSS Minis class, will also take more prominence.

The ICFDS Skills Badge Scheme

The ICFDS Skills Badge Scheme is designed to help encourage your child to achieve their goals. The Scheme will challenge the players and create ambition, showing them that through hard work and practice they can gain a Skills Badge and that if they set their mind to something, they can achieve it.

At 8 years old, your kid will have had a soft introduction to it in our BSS Minis class. When they reach our 8-11 year old classes, it will take more prominence with all movements being slowly taught, reinforced and mastered.

How Are BSS Kids Football Classes Different?

Our Brazilian Soccer Schools football classes are different because we use Futebol de Salão, which is the original Brazilian version of futsal, as the basis of our training.

Futebol de Salão is a variant of association football but it is played with smaller teams of 5 players on each team. It is played on a pitch that is the size of a basketball court with a heavier, smaller ball that has virtually no bounce.

We use this as the basis for our training because it is a faster paced, tightly compressed and highly pressurised game which leads to 600% more touches of the ball. This creates highly skilled players who can go on to do great things like our graduates Micah Richards and Abby Towers.

The BSS Methodology

Along with using Futebol de Salão as the basis of our football classes and training, we also have our own methodology that has four key aspects. These are:

  • Emphasis on individual skills
  • Futebol de Salão
  • Increased time training with the ball
  • Physical, mental & tactical training

The combination of these four key aspects leads to your kid being a highly skilled football player.
