What Will My 9 Year Old Learn In The Brazilian Soccer Schools Football Classes?

At 9 years old, your child will be in our 8-11 year old football classes. These classes start with a warm up and then we move on to body and ball manipulation which is done to music. Next, we move onto focusing on a specific skill. In our 8-11 year old classes, we usually start with passing and then on to other skills such as juggling, moves to beat, shooting and turning. As the year progresses, your kid will do group passing, volleying and floor to air. The class will end with a small side game, with conditions, and then a cool down.

Our 8-11 year old classes are 60-120 minutes per session with your kid attending 1-3 sessions per week.

What Is The ICFDS Skills Badge Scheme?

In the 8-11 year old classes, our ICFDS Skills Badge Scheme will take more prominence, having been softly introduced in our BSS Minis classes. All movements will be slowly taught so they can be reinforced and mastered, gaining your child Skills Badges but also showing them what they can achieve through hard work.

The ICFDS Skills Badge Scheme aims to show the young players what they can achieve and what is truly possible with the ball.

At this age, your kid will be working through Levels 1-5 of the Scheme. Each of these levels is split into 7 assessment modules which are completed as your kid progresses through the BSS programme. The modules contain core skills, juggling, moves to beat, turning, passing, ground to air moves, balances and traps.

How Are Our Kids Football Classes Different?

Brazilian Soccer Schools kids football classes are different because our football training is based upon Futebol de Salão, the original Brazilian version of futsal. Using this as the basis of our training leads to footballers who are much more highly skilled but also so much more than that.

Our football classes are about more than football skills and developing mastery and control of the ball. Our kids football classes for 9 year olds will also teach them respect for their fellow players and their coaches. Your children will learn the importance of friendship and teamwork are all important parts of our training.

They will also learn to appreciate their faults and weaknesses and how through hard work they can overcome them.

Why Do We Use Futebol de Salão As The Basis Of Our Training?

Futebol de Salão is the Brazilian version of futsal. Futsal was invented by Juan Carlos Ceriani in Uruguay in the 1930s. He took many of the rules of futsal from a variety of different games. The 5 a side teams and 40 minute matches came from basketball, the pitch and goal dimensions came from handball and the goalkeeper rules came from water polo.

Futebol de Salão is the Brazilian version of futsal and it is played between two teams of five players. It is played on a pitch that is the size of a basketball court with a heavier, smaller football that has virtually no bounce. It is a fast paced, tightly compressed, highly pressurised game and we use it as the basis of our training because it leads to 600% more touches of the ball. This helps players to develop their core moves and skills, leading them to be highly skilled at football, just like our graduates Micah Richards and Abby Towers.
